City Highlights for Delegates

Konak Square - Clock Tower

Located at the heart of İzmir, Konak is a must-see place filled with Izmir's rich history and culture. Konak Square will welcome you with its famous clock tower, keeping track of the city's every heartbeat. Gifted to the Ottoman monarch Sultan Abdulhamid II as a celebration of the twenty-fifth anniversary of his coronation, the tower is a 125 year-old landmark of Izmir. Konak is also a great place to start exploring the city, considering how close it is to many other must-see places such as the Kemeraltı Bazaar and Agora Ruins where the centuries of cultural coexistence has left its clear mark. Konak Square from our school is a 15 minute car ride from our school. If you would like to use public transportation, you could also take the subway from Göztepe stop near our school to the Konak stop (Evka-3 direction).
